POLICY CHANGES AT CAMP VICTOR
The CV staff has been going through some big transitions recently and we are working our hardest to continue serving the volunteers and the community to the best of our ability. Please find listed below some important changes at Camp Victor that you should be aware of.
1. Change: Our current fee is $25 per person/per day. If you cannot afford the cost, please speak with the volunteer manager about CV scholarships. Reason: The funding from large organizations like Lutheran Disaster Response, FEMA, MEMA, Lutheran Social Services, etc. that was paying for all camp costs is gone. Camp Victor has become a self-sustaining camp and in order to cover the cost of camp staff, food, supplies and utilities we need for our volunteers to contribute to our housing operation. (Our funding for case management and construction comes from different sources than our housing operation.)
2. Change: We ask that all groups turn in their payment and paperwork 3 weeks prior to your arrival at camp. Reason: This helps Camp Victor prepare for your stay. We are able to purchase food, supplies and other items in advance to ensure that we are ready for your group.
3. Change: All groups need to schedule their arrival for Sunday, between 12pm and 6:00pm, with enough time to take a tour of camp before orientation at 7:30pm. Reason: The challenge in running a volunteer camp 7 days a week comes in keeping a staff healthy, relaxed and energized. Our staff needs at least one day off a week to rest and recharge for the upcoming work week.
4. Change: We will not provide construction projects or meals on the weekends, with the exclusion of Sunday dinner. Reason: Same as number 3.
