On August 14th at Mission on the Bay led by Bishop Duncan M. Gray, III and on August 26th at Camp Victor led by Bishop Julian Gordy, we gathered to celebrate and give thanks for the phenomenal ministries of our camps over the past five years and to mark the end of this season in Coast rebuildings efforts.
Thankfully, while Mission on the Bay has closed its doors in Bay St. Louis, a few close-out efforts remain across the Coast:
- At Camp Victor, the funds have been raised to keep a "close-out" construction crews on board for another four to six months to finish the work we have begun in Jackson County. Therefore, CVM will continue to house and coordinate small groups of volunteers this fall to assist with the work. Please, see the Camp Victor page for info on the close-out efforts.
- At Mission on the Bay, enough funds were generated through the Coming Home Collaborative to keep a couple of folks on board to finish the Hall and Nugent homes over the course of September. Unfortunately, with no facilities for housing, volunteers will not be able to assist with these efforts. That said, there may be some ways to help in Hancock and Harrison Counties. To find out more, contact Rick Shepler at rsheplersr@gmail.com.
- LESM Case Management will remain present on the Coast in real and effective ways for the coming months on both ends on the Coast.
THANKS Y'ALL for taking part in these phenomenal ministries!!! As Butch has said on numerous occasions, "It's only through the kindness of complete strangers that the Coast has come this far." Thanks be to God!
